Michael J. Mejia is a playwright from Delano, California, and currently lives in LA. He recently began lecturing at California State University Fullerton’s College of the Arts. Prior, he was Development Manager for the Emmy Award winning World of Wonder Productions where he developed shows for Netflix, Ruko, HBO, HBO Max, Hulu, Amazon, National Geographic, A&E, MTV, Bravo, E!, Lifetime, WE, Food Network, Fuse, TBS, Crave, and WOWPresentsPlus.

His play, The Book of Andy, received a staged reading through The Great Gay Play contest through Pride Films and Plays in Chicago before receiving a grant from the city of Tacoma for a digital production through the University of Washington, Tacoma, and Dukes Bay Theatre. Feliz: An American Play was a finalist for LTC’s Carnaval of New Latinx Work before receiving a digital production in early 2021 through an artist grant from the city of Santa Ana in partnership with The Wayward Artist and Frida Cinema. He was part of the Under Construction development program at The Road Theatre in North Hollywood, where he developed a new psychological thriller, ANNA/MARIA, culminating in a staged reading directed by Michael John Garces. He holds an MFA from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts.
